The Art of Pattern. An Invitation to Minakani.

At the heart of our wardrobes lies a little illustrated world. Characters, animals, flowers and abstract shapes coexist harmoniously. These patterns that adorn our clothes have one thing in common: they are sketched by designers whose names are often unknown to the general public.

Frédéric Bonnin is one of the leading figures in this field and, since 2005, has been creating bouquets of designs that bloom each season on the fabrics of fashion designers. Minakani – a word of Persian origin meaning ‘woman’ and ‘garden’ – is the name of his studio, a veritable poetic workshop of images. A master of composition, he explores the tension between line, colour and space through a dynamic and joyful body of work.

Emerging from her preparatory sketches, Minakani’s imagination takes shape on fabrics, garments and accessories in the museum’s galleries dedicated to textiles and fashion.
