Naime Merabet. Life on the Brink: An Intimate Journey Through Roubaix.

Through a series of sensitive photographs, Naime Merabet explores Roubaix, the town of his childhood, capturing the poetry of everyday life from thresholds: doors, windows, crossroads. Between Algerian heritage and local roots, he pursues a quest for identity blending urban wanderings, chance encounters and silent dialogues. Structured around a triptych, the series addresses quiet conviviality, the touching presence of the elderly and the lingering marks of social exclusion. The artist reveals a city that is proud, modest, all too often stigmatised, yet deeply lived-in. Inspired by sociological studies, Pistoletto’s mirrors and a quote from Cartier-Bresson – “a cold eye with a warm heart” – he offers a humble, attentive gaze, guided by instinct and listening.
