Every weekend, La Piscine offers guided tours to help you (re)discover the building’s history, its collections or its temporary exhibitions.

On Sundays

Guided tours of our collections and an olfactory tour from 4.15 pm to 5.15 pm

Every Sunday, we offer a guided tour of the permanent collections.
On the third Sunday of each month, an olfactory tour allows you to discover some of our works through the scents created by Givaudan and Symrise for Christian Astuguevieille’s sensory journey.

Number of participants: Groups of up to 20 people.
Price per person: €4 for the tour + museum admission.
No booking required. Register directly at the museum reception 30 minutes before the tour starts, subject to availability.

Friday's surprises

What could be more traditional than a guided tour? Until it stops being one.
The ‘Surprising Tours’ are a unique tour experience in the company of a mystery guest.

Number of participants: 1 group of 20 people (15 people on 3 October 2025, 12 December 2025 and 6 February 2026)
Price: Free of charge
No booking required. Registration takes place at reception on the day from 5.45 pm, subject to availability.

Chatting away without feeling hungry

One hour, one perspective. Join us one Tuesday a month to explore a work of art, an artist or a theme with a guide for around 30 minutes. The discussion then continues with everyone in the museum restaurant.

Times: 12.30pm to 1.30pm/1.45pm (30 minutes in the exhibition rooms and 30 to 45 minutes for lunch).
Price: €11 + cost of lunch.

ARt & Pilates

One Friday a month, and also one Wednesday (almost) a month, La Piscine and the City of Roubaix’s Sports Department invite you to
recreate a selection of artworks using your body!
In the heart of the museum, a few works are observed and then recreated through three ‘wellness’ disciplines: Pilates, Qi Gong and yoga.
The sessions on Wednesday lunchtimes and Friday evenings are different.

Please bring suitable sportswear.
Free of charge, booking required via the Sports Department, quoting “Art and Pilates”:

Subject to availability.
On Wednesdays, after the session, if you wish to remain in the museum, you will be required to pay an admission fee.

Our workshops for adults

Aimed at adults, these workshops offer an opportunity to explore the basics of artistic practice, drawing on our permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.
The observation and analysis of selected works will inspire creative processes. This year, two sessions are available.

Price per person for the three Saturday mornings: €70.
Times: 9.00 am to 11.30 am.
Groups of up to 12 adults (minimum: 6 adults).

A rolling pin for an even thickness. Sprinkle some chamotte to prevent it from sticking to the work surface. A slab is a shaping technique used in some of the ceramics in our collections. This clay slab is decorated, engraved, stamped, coloured and/or pierced before being shaped into a vase, a pot, a totem, a colander, a bottle, a box, an animal…

: Textile collections and their hidden gems, such as these bizarre silks. Unique combinations create whimsical compositions, unusual patterns and elements on an unreal scale… Picked leaves and flowers offer us natural motifs thanks to the tatakizomé technique. Superimposed upon them, our most incongruous dreams come to life. Embroidered oddities creep in, overlap, unsettle…

Highlights of the tour

The Senses Trail

Since La Piscine opened in 2001, the museum has offered visitors a unique sensory journey, conceived by the renowned designer Christian Astuguevieille, whose personal work is largely focused on multi-sensory experiences. Fully integrated into the site and at the heart of the collections, the Sensory Journey offers approaches that complement a traditional visit, rich in echoes of the spirit of the place yet also capable of sparking the imagination. Thanks to this immersive experience and sensory cues tailored to each individual, everyone can engage with the museum and its treasures in their own way and immerse themselves in the very essence of the institution.

For sight, the museum naturally offers pathways and openings within the space, as well as opportunities to engage with numerous objects and works of art.
For touch, a tactile area allows visitors to explore materials gathered in
an imaginary cloakroom. (By booking only for young visitors – ‘Sight, Touch, Hearing, Smell’ activity).
For hearing, in a nostalgic tribute to the site’s history, a soundscape of the pool (created by Bruno Follet) evokes the sound of bathers playing in a swimming pool.
For the sense of smell, olfactory interpretations of artworks and spaces (created by Givaudan and Symrise) are offered, thanks to scented samples distributed by guides during tours and activities on the theme of the senses.
Finally, for the sense of taste, within the preserved Art Deco setting of the museum’s restaurant and tea room, a gourmet break is offered, with a specially adapted menu, to complement the programme of temporary exhibitions.

Digital tools to enhance your visit

Since its inception, La Piscine has been committed to making its collections accessible to all and encouraging as many people as possible to discover them. As part of this commitment to openness and to meeting the public’s expectations, a number of digital engagement initiatives have been developed. In addition to an enhanced audio guide, the museum offers a range of interactive tools.

Around the studio of the sculptor Henri Bouchard

> Immerse yourself in this faithful reconstruction of sculptor Henri Bouchard’s studio, brought to life through digital display panels featuring themed entries.
> Modelling, casting, carving and smelting: discover the secrets of a sculptor’s studio through four short animated films explaining the materials and techniques of sculpture.
This initiative is a collaboration with the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. It was made possible thanks to the support of the Cercle des Entreprises Mécènes de La Piscine.
> Through the screening of extracts from archive films, explore various issues related to sculpture (production, publishing, commissions, exhibitions, censorship, etc.).

>Fancy a break?

Young and old alike are welcome at the Méert restaurant, located in the heart of the museum.
The play benches, placed throughout the galleries, provide a chance to take a short break during your visit. The indoor and outdoor gardens are also available for a moment of relaxation.
